Sheridan Bursary for Ontario Youth Currently or Formerly in Care
Overview:
If you grew up in the care of the Children’s Aid Society, you may be eligible for bursary support toward your tuition. Sheridan launched a tuition bursary that will pay tuition for current or former youth in extended society care who are pursuing their first postsecondary credential.
Eligibility criteria:
- must be a current or former youth in extended society care (Crown ward) or Customary Care (including Voluntary Youth Service Agreements), not adopted, who has been in care for a minimum of 12 months in the Ontario care system
- must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Person and have lived in Ontario for 12 consecutive months prior to attending post-secondary studies (must meet Ontario Residency requirement)
- must be pursuing their first postsecondary credential
- must be enrolled for full-time studies
- must submit an Ontario Student Assistance Program application every academic year
- must complete a General Online Awards Application
- must demonstrate financial need
Awarded students will receive a variable amount of financial aid funding towards tuition and compulsory fees. Recipients will need to reapply each term to meet eligibility criteria of bursary to be considered up to four years.
