National Police Federation Benevolent Foundation Bursaries

NPFBF Bursary Program
The National Police Federation Benevolent Foundation bursary program was established to provide financial assistance to post-secondary students studying in a field relative to public safety in four regions across Canada (Atlantic, Central, Prairies/North, and Pacific). Twelve regional bursaries totalling $2,500 each will be awarded to eligible students, and a single national bursary totalling $5,000 – the Gordon Clarke Bursary – will be awarded annually to one student who has shown exceptional leadership, compassion, and support for their community.

Supporting Post-Secondary Students Across Canada
12 Regional Bursaries – $2,500

The NPFBF will provide financial assistance to post-secondary students through twelve bursaries annually in the amount of $2,500 each. Students attending post-secondary studies and meeting the criteria below will be eligible.
Criteria for NPFBF Bursaries:

Three bursaries per Region. If there are no qualified applicants in a Region in any specific year, then no bursary will be awarded for that year.
The applicant must be enrolled or accepted to a post-secondary institution (ie, university, college or polytechnical institute) in the field of public safety prior to the bursary being awarded;
The applicant must live in the Region from which they are applying;
The applicant must write an essay of between 750 and 1000 words explaining how they made their community a better place in which to live. The applicant must demonstrate their involvement in extra-curricular activities, such as sports, music, dance, volunteerism, and how they have shown leadership in these areas to improve their community.
Applicants cannot be the children of any National Police Federation salaried employee.
Bursaries will be reviewed and awarded by a selection committee consisting of Directors and staff of the Benevolent Foundation.
Those applying must complete and submit their application by mail or email the Benevolent Foundation bursary application form and attach their essay.

National – Gordon Clarke Annual Bursary

NPFBF has also established the Gordon Clarke Bursary, in the amount of $5000, which will be awarded annually to one student enrolled in post-secondary studies in the public safety field who has shown exceptional leadership, compassion and support for their community.
Criteria for the Gordon Clarke Bursary:

One bursary to be awarded nationally per year – if there are no qualified applicants in a given year, the bursary will not be awarded for that year;
The applicant must be enrolled or accepted to a post-secondary institution (i.e. university, college or polytechnical institute) in the field of public safety prior to the scholarship being awarded;
The applicant must write an essay of not less than 1000 words explaining how they have shown exceptional leadership, compassion and support for their community;
Applicants cannot be the children of any National Police Federation salaried employee. This does not include children of Local Area Representatives (LAR’s).
Bursaries will be reviewed and awarded by a selection committee consisting of Directors and staff of the Benevolent Foundation.
