BOLT Women in Construction Scholarship

The BOLT Charitable Foundation, in partnership with Support Ontario Youth, are proud to announce the BOLT Women in Construction Scholarship for 2022!

Successful recipients receive $500 and are connected to a female mentor from their own or similar trade to help provide additional career advice and support.

About the BOLT Charitable Foundation
Founded by Tridel, BOLT was launched in 2009 and established as a Charitable Foundation in 2013 with a mandate to help connect under-resourced youth in the GTA to careers in construction. BOLT creates awareness about the diversity of careers in the industry through Speak Outs, offers immersive career exploration through Days of Discovery and Job Shadowing, and provides financial assistance for post-secondary and skilled training programs.

About Support Ontario Youth
Support Ontario Youth (SOY) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting apprentices, employers and stakeholders in the skilled trades industry by streamlining the apprenticeship journey. SOY’s goal is to modernize the apprenticeship pathway by becoming a complete and transparent resource for those looking to enter the skilled trades. SOY works with industry associations, employers, employment groups, community groups, schools and Government, to actively promote trades as an excellent career option by connecting job-ready and eager to learn apprentices with engaging and supportive employers. We work with both parties by providing advice, support, mentoring and scholarships, as well as helping to manage the administration of the apprenticeship journey.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Female apprentice in a Construction sector skilled trade
  • Have an active Registered Training Agreement (RTA)
  • 17-29 years old and living in the Greater Toronto Area
  • Can demonstrate financial need
  • Have not previously won a scholarship via SOY or BOLT

Anyone who meets the eligibility criteria above can apply for the scholarship at any time. Multiple scholarships are awarded throughout the year and can be applied to the costs of workwear, tools, in-class training, or living expenses.

  • January 1 to March 31 (successful recipients announced in April)
  • April 1 to June 30 (successful recipients announced in July
  • July 1 to Sept 30 (successful recipients announced in October)
  • Oct 1 to Dec 31 (successful recipients announced in January)
