Ontario Power Generation (OPG) Student Awards

We offer a range of post-secondary student awards to students attending accredited community colleges and universities in Ontario.

Our student awards program helps students to obtain the education they need to build a rewarding career. The program highlights our commitment to youth and education by offering financial assistance to students from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines.

Community College Technician/Technology Award
Value: $1,000
Annual awards: one per Ontario college

One annual student award, valued at $1,000 per Ontario college, offered to a qualified student and a member of an employment equity target group (women, Indigenous people (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit), persons with disabilities, and visible minorities).

Confederation College Negahneewin Incentive Award
Value: $1,000
Annual awards: up to five

Up to five annual student awards, valued at $1,000 each, offered to qualified Confederation College students of Indigenous ancestry (First Nations, Métis, and Inuit).

John Wesley Beaver Memorial Award
Value: $3,000 – $5,000
Annual awards: up to two

We sponsor up to two awards annually. The Award is valued at $3,000 for College recipients and $5,000 for University recipients. All Ontario residents who are First Nations, Inuit or Métis, and enrolled in a full-time post secondary institution in Ontario are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to applicants from Ontario communities.
