A.B.L.E. Scholarship Program (The Association of Black Law Enforcers)
Peter Butler III – Rose Fortune Scholarship Program
A.B.L.E. is committed to ensuring that the criminal justice system is reflective of the entire Canadian mosaic, by providing opportunities for our young people to serve, protect, and correct. Accordingly, A.B.L.E. will contribute funds towards the tuition fees of each successful candidate pursuing post-secondary education in one of the following areas of study:
- Law Enforcement/Law & Security
- Correctional Worker Program
- Law and Criminal Justice Studies
- Police Foundation Studies
- Criminology
The recipient will be selected based on academic achievement, community service and financial need. An interview will be conducted. Scholarship amounts will be determined annually by A.B.L.E.
To be considered by A.B.L.E. the candidate must:
- Be attending or plan to attend an accredited College or University
- Provide proof of acceptance to or present status at an accredited College or University
- Provide transcripts of current academic standing Provide a letter of support from a community agency or organization where volunteer work is done
- Submit an essay 500 words, in length, typed, double spaced on one (1) of the following topics:
- Outline your voluntary service to the community OR Why you have chosen your particular field of study and how your chosen career will make a positive contribution to the community OR Why you should be selected as an A.B.L.E. award recipient
- Candidates must be of good moral character and habits and willing to volunteer with A.B.L.E. for a minimum of two years
