Start Proud Student Leadership Scholarship

Start Proud is committed to recognizing excellence in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender,Queer (LGBTQ+) student community across Canada as an opportunity to help students excel in their career. To support this commitment, Start Proud awards two scholarships each year to successful student leaders with bright futures contributing to their school/community through leadership on campus, entrepreneurial activities or advancing social causes. It is not required these experiences be LGBTQ+ related. Scholarship candidates are highlighted as role models for Start Proud’s student network.

2 awards will be awarded at $2,500 each.

The 2018 Start Proud Student Leadership Scholarships are available to LGBTQ+ postsecondary students who are enrolled for the Fall 2018 academic term in an accredited Canadian post-secondary program of study. One award will be reserved for students in their
first undergraduate program and the other for students pursuing post-graduate studies.

Recipients must:

• Exemplify leadership through significant professional or community impact
• Demonstrate personal and/or academic success
• Clearly articulate plans for future involvement in the LGBTQ+ community and career or
academic goals
• Demonstrate alignment with Start Proud’s Mission, Vision & Values
The recipients will be selected by an independent committee of professionals from the
Canadian community. Recipients will be formally recognized in Toronto between Friday
September 14th, 2018 and Saturday September 15th, 2018, the final details of which will be
directly communicated to recipients.
