Louis Adamo Memorial Bursary

Lou Adamo was a certified engineering technologist in the research division of Ontario Hydro. After finishing high school at Northern Technical in Toronto, he started work at Ontario Hydro rewinding motors from 25 Hz to 60 Hz. His supervisor told him that he needed more education to get ahead, so he enrolled in the engineering technology program at Ryerson. He spent several years at night school finishing his degree. Although it was a struggle to combine full time work, raise a family and attend night school; he was always a dedicated (and fun!) husband and father. By the 1970’s, he was promoted and became supervisor of the technologists in his division, and was responsible for hiring. He worked closely with local community colleges, including Sheridan College. In the 1980’s he helped connect the engineering technology program at Sheridan with employers such as Ontario Hydro.
Our father was a compassionate man with a lively sense of humour. He had a life-long love of learning and was an enthusiastic early adopter of new technologies throughout his life. He was a believer in the power of education. He would hope that you will enjoy your technology career as much as he enjoyed his.
